John M. Michl, 59, of Keokuk, IA died Friday, November 12, 2010. John was born on December 1, 1950, the first born son of Sylvester (Mike) and Betty Londrie Michl. He and Kathy Jo McAdams were united in marriage on October 31, 2005. John was a life-long resident of Keokuk, IA where he excelled as a sheet metal worker. He attended St. Vincent's Grade School and graduated from Cardinal Stritch High School. He was an Altar Boy at St. Peters Church and was a Boy Scout in Troop 78 where he attained 4th degree sharpshooter certification. John joined the United States Navy in 1970 and was honorably discharged in 1974 as a Machinist Mate. He was a member of the Hancock County Gun Club and earned numerous trophies and awards. He was also a lifetime member of the NRA. John is survived by his wife, Kathy, siblings: Vince Michl, Beth Ann Schaefer, Linda Greenstreet, Michele Michl, Stephen Michl and Mary Pat Michl, nieces and nephews, Joe Ragar, Maria Michl, Dena O-Day, Taylor Greenstreet and Alexis Orr. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Theresa Ringstrom, brother, Joseph Michl and nephews, Joseph Michl and Brian Ragar. Graveside services with military rites were held at 12 noon Wednesday Novmeber 17, 2010 at the Keokuk National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family.
