John Lee Kay, 75 of Keokuk died Monday, August 29, 2016 at the Keokuk Area Hospital.
He was born April 21, 1941 in Keokuk the son of Elmer and Jessie Taylor Kay.
On October 7, 1961 he was united in marriage to Sheila Kay at St. Peter's Church in Keokuk. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, John Kay (Maria) of Phoenix, AZ and Jeff Kay of Farmington, IA, three daughters, April Smith (Chris) of West Point, IL, Patty Parrish (John) of Wyaconda, MO and Mary Tuttle (Doug) of Williamstown, MO, eleven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one half-sister, Ellen Kay of Gorin, MO, one brother-in-law, Darwin Bertram of Argyle, IA and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Rosemary Cline and Joanna Bertram.
John had been employed at Dryden's/Sheller Globe in Keokuk until his retirement in 2003.
John was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Keokuk.
He loved carpentry and spent countless hours building and repairing projects. John adored his family and loved spending time with them.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, September 2, 2016 at All Saints Catholic Church in Keokuk with Father Robert Lathrop officiating. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk.
