John Richard Wheeler, 67, of Montrose, IA died Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at his home. He was born June 12, 1947 in Waverley, AR the son of John Henry and Donna Lee Wheeler. John graduated from Carthage Missouri High School. John was a veteran of the United States Navy and proudly served his country from 1967- 1970. He was united in marriage to Pam Wellesley. They later divorced. He had been employed at Griffin Wheel in Keokuk for twenty-three years until his retirement in June 2014. John was a Jeep enthusiast and wouldn't trade driving his Jeep for anything. He is survived by three sons, Chris Wheeler and his wife Megan of Nevada, MO, Travis Wheeler of Sterling, CO and Jacob Wheeler of Harrisonburg, VA, one sister, Linda Hoagland of Diamond, MO and one half brother, Dwane Rook and his wife Cindy of Kansas City, MO. Graveside services with military rites were held at 2 p.m., Monday, November 10th 2014 at the Keokuk National in Keokuk. Memorials may be made to the family.
