John Michael Farmer, 72, of Montrose, IA died Thursday, November 16, at his home.
John was born on February 14, 1951, in Mexico, MO the son of William Claywell and Mabel Pearl Adams.
He had proudly served in the United States Marines during the Vietnam War.
John had served in Law Enforcement for 40 years, most recently for the Lee County Sheriff Department.
In his spare time, he enjoyed taking tractor rides, going antiquing, attending auctions, and seeing if he can pick up a bargain antique. John then enjoyed restoring his antique treasures. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle. The most important activity in his life was spending time with his family.
He is survived by a daughter, Ashley Shearer (Eric) of Keokuk, three sons, Jason Farmer (Nicole) of Washington, IA, Nathan Farmer (Dawn) of Montrose, IA, and Brandon Farmer of Vinton, IA and ten grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and twelve siblings.
John had deeded his body for medical research at the University of Iowa Hospital, in Iowa City.
