John H. Duerkop, 93, of Keokuk, IA, died Monday, March 06, 2006 at the Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, IA. He was born on December 6, 1912 in Keokuk, IA, the son of George N. and Paula Martens Duerkop. On December 20, 1942, John was united in marriage to Lorreine Dickson in Keokuk, IA. She survives. He is also survived by one daughter, Judith A. Sharp of Keokuk, IA, one son-in-law, Thomas G. Dreasler of Keokuk, IA, three grandchildren, Scott A. Ward of Center Point, IA, Eric T. Ward of Keokuk, IA, and Robyn Jahlis of Urbana, IA, three great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law, Mary Edna Kohlmorgan and her husband Wilbur of Keokuk, IA and one cousin, Mary Margaret Roberts of Gig Harbor, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Mary V. Dreasler on July 22, 1999, and one great-granddaughter. John graduated from Keokuk Senior High with the Class of 1930. He had been employed by State Central Bank for forty-seven years, retiring in 1978. He was a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Keokuk where he taught Sunday School and sang in the church choir for many years. He also served on the Consistory of the Church. He was a member of the Keokuk Camera Club and TOPS. John enjoyed photography and working around the house. A Memorial Service was held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 11, at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Reverend John Tyler officiating. Memorials may be made to the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Keokuk or the Keokuk Humane Society
