John "Doc" Dochterman, 75, of Keokuk, IA died Monday, December 4, 2017 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.
He was born November 22, 1942 in Terre Haute, IL the son of John H. Sr., and Edith W. Harvey Dochterman. On July 13, 1974 he was united in marriage to Glenda Hale in Hamilton, IL. She survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, Sherry Hall (Randy) of Hamilton, IL, one son, Martin Helenthal of Keokuk, four grandchildren, Dana Spurgeon, Dustin Clatt, Destinee Steenberg and Jocee Helenthal, his mother, Edith Dochterman of Kahoka, MO, one sister, Karen Egbert of Wyaconda, MO, three step-grandchildren, Jennifer Phi, Jessica Morgan and Janell Delana and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, one son, Lonnie Dochterman, one brother, Thomas in infancy and one brother in law, Danny Egbert.
John was a veteran of the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War.
John graduated from the Wyaconda High School in Wyaconda, MO.
He was of the Methodist faith. John was a member of the Elks' Lodge #106, and the American Legion Post #41.
He had been employed by Sheller Globe in Keokuk, for over forty-one years, until his retirement in 2004.
John enjoyed watching sports. He especially enjoyed harness racing, Nascar, St. Louis Cardinals baseball and Minnesota Vikings football.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Thursday, at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with Pastor David Turner officiating. Burial was in the Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton, IL.
