Obituary

John Henry Coovert, Sr. 76, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 28, 2011, surrounded by his family. John was born on September 12, 1935 in Keokuk, IA, the son of David and Francis Londrie Coovert . He married JoAnn Meyers and together they had three children that he loved dearly, John H. Coovert, Jr., Mark Coovert and Jacque Coovert. They later divorced. John worked for Vermillion Brothers in Keokuk for over thirty years. He loved hunting and trap shooting, He also enjoyed wood working and stained glass and gave away many beautiful things he made to his family and friends. John loved life itself and his philosophy about life was that it's not what you have in your life, but who you have in your life that really counts. John loved the Lord and thanked God for all his many blessings, a good life, love, family and especially the enduring love of Jesus Christ. He was a baptized believer and member of the New Testament Christian Church in Keokuk, IA. He is survived by two sons, John H. Coovert, Jr. of Keokuk, Mark Coovert and his wife Diana of Keokuk, one daughter, Jacque Huston of Keokuk, two step-children, Ron Shark of Keokuk and Bonita Roberts of Keokuk, one brother, Clyde Coovert and his wife Bobbie of Hurricane UT and one sister-in-law, Marilyn Coovert of Hamilton, IL, six grandchildren, Adam Davis, Jessica Davis and her companion Fred Tibbits, Michael Carr and Tara Campbell all of Keokuk, Ben Huston and Nick Huston both of Burlington, IA, twelve great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and the children of his companion, Leland "Shorty" Fye, Lorri Keough and Cecelia Podoalk. He was also preceded in death by his loving companion, Beulah (Boots) Fye on October 24, 1991, his parents, three sisters, Lila L. Land, Juanita Willoughby and Francis Coovert, one brother, David Coovert and one very special son-in-law, Glen Huston. According to his wishes there will be no service or visitation. Memorials may be made to New Testament Christian Church or the donor's choice.
