Jo Ann Sapp, 65, of Keokuk, IA died Sunday January 9, 2011 at the Keokuk Area Hospital.
She was born on July 16, 1945 in Keokuk, IA the daughter of John F. and Hazel "Virginia" Riffle LeMaster.
Jo Ann was united in marriage to Melvin Lester Sapp on April 10, 1966 in St. Francisville, MO. He survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Melvin Mathew Sapp and his wife Kelly and Shawn Franklin Sapp and his wife Michelle all of Keokuk, IA, five grandchildren, Kolton, Lucas, Kody, Keagan and Sarah, her mother Hazel "Virginia" LeMaster of Medill, MO, one sister, Janet Louise Dochterman of Keokuk, IA, one brother, John Leroy LeMaster and his wife Camelia of Keokuk, IA, aunts, uncles, many nieces, nephews and special friends.
She was preceded in death by a child in infancy, her father, two brothers, Gene in infancy and Jeffery and a few special friends.
Jo Ann graduated from the Clark County High School in Kahoka, MO with the class of 1963. She was a member of the Alexandria Presbyterian Church in Alexandria, MO.
For the last several years she was employed as a people greeter at the Keokuk Wal-Mart Store, prior to that she worked in the kitchen at Running Fox Elementary School, Alexandria, MO and did a lot of babysitting.
Jo Ann loved to sing, play the slot machines and watch her grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and cherished the time she spent with her family. She touched the lives of everyone she met, everyone that met her loved her.
Gathering of Remembrance for family and friends was held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday January 11, 2010 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA.
Memorials may be made to the Grandkids College Fund.
Jo Ann donated her body to the Mayo Clinic Anatomy Department for Medical Research.
