Jim L. Elder, 73, of St. Francisville, MO, died Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at the Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, IA. He was born on March 15, 1937 in Bowen, IL, the son of Andy and Ada Mae McClain Elder. On January 31, 1967, Jim was united in marriage to Patricia Reed in Kahoka, MO. She survives. Other survivors include one son, Jimmy Elder and his wife Dee Dee of Quincy, IL, two daughters, Angela Elder of Keokuk, IA and Kristi Brown and her husband John of Canton, MO, four grandchildren, Kacy Elder, Maria Elder, Cody Brown and Amanda Brown, three great-grandchildren, Cody Shannon, Peyton Shannon and Deegan Brown, two sisters, Joann Rampley and her husband Charlie of Montrose, IA, and Charlotte Schneider and her husband George of Montrose, IA, one brother Roger Elder and his wife Betty of Burlington, IA, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister in infancy. Jim graduated from Bowen High School with the Class of 1954. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He had been employed at Sheller Globe in Keokuk, IA and retired on June 1, 2002. He enjoyed hunting, mushroom hunting and watching westerns on television. He took great pleasure in spoiling his great grandchildren with their favorite candy from his special candy dish. Jim especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday at the Sand Cemetery in St. Francisville, MO with Pastor Daniel Fox officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10 am – 11 am at the Vigen Memorial Home in Kahoka, MO. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or the American Heart Association.
