Jessie James Vaughn, 78, of Keokuk, IA died Friday, January 17, 2014 at the Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, IA. He was born March 28, 1935 in Livonia, Missouri, the son of Thomas F. and Grace Stevens Vaughn. On November 14, 1957, he was united in marriage to Barbara Storms in Keokuk, Iowa. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Jessie Vaughn, Jr., and Mark Vaughn and his wife Adonia all of Keokuk, IA, two daughters, Ronda Weltch of Harrison, Arkansas and Donna Malloy and her husband Ed of Keokuk, IA, ten grandchildren, three great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Maxine Boltz and one brother, Wilber Johnson. Jessie was employed with CB Railroads until they closed and then worked with Railroad Junctions Short Run in Keokuk until he retired in March, 28, 1997. He was a faithful member of the Bel-Air Baptist Church in Keokuk. Jessie enjoyed tinkering on small motors, hunting and fishing. Most of all he adored his wife, children and grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 21st, 2014 at the Bel-Air Baptist Church in Keokuk. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery, Keokuk, IA. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
