Jessie Cora Jones, 97, of Keokuk, Iowa, died Friday, December 16, 2005 at the Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, IA. She was born June 29, 1908 in Marshall, AR, the daughter of David Clark and Sarah Elizah Bailey. On November 20, 1937, Jessie was united in marriage to William Ivis in Canalou, Missouri. He preceded her in death in March of 1982. Jessie worked at Stave Mill in Hamilton, IL. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Hamilton, IL. Church was a very big part of her life. She enjoyed gardening and babysitting her grandchildren. She is survived by two sons, Jay Bailey and his wife Luella of Hamilton, IL, John Jones and his wife Mary of Des Moines, IA, two daughters, Sue Howe and her husband Truman of Urbana, IL, Betty Zech of Keokuk, IA, 10 Grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Lester, Clark, Earl, Sherman Bailey, four sisters, Mary Pratt, Lola Griffin, Bessie Bailey and Agnes Crumley, one great great grandchild, Austin Blake. Funeral services were held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday at the Assembly of God Church in Hamilton, IL with Pastor Doug Campbell officiating. Burial was in the Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton, IL. Memorials may be made to the family or to the Assembly of God Church in Hamilton, IL.
