Born on March 3, 1923 in Memphis, MO, Jennie was the daughter of Adelbert and Mary Gower Oliver. On September 16, 1945, Jennie was united in marriage to Richard Olson in Memphis, MO. In her early years, Jennie had been employed as a Nurses' Aid at the Kirksville Hospital in Kirksville, MO. She also had been employed at the Keokuk High School in Keokuk, IA for several years. She was of the Methodist faith. She enjoyed making craft projects and reading. The most important thing to her was taking care of her family and her home. She was a loving wife and the best mother in the whole world. Jennie Lavaughn Olson died Monday, September 12, 2005 at the Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, IA at the age of 82. She is survived by her husband Richard of Alexandria, MO, one son, Robert Olson of Mesa, AZ, one daughter, Jane Olson Lamer of Santa Ynez, CA, one sister, Helen Hohl of Donnellson, IA, three brothers, Leland Oliver of Luray, MO, Glen Oliver of Burlington, IA and Howard Oliver of the state of Washington, one grandson, two granddaughters, six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and one brother. A Time of Remembrance was held at 10 a.m., Thursday, September 15, at the Alexandria Town Hall in Alexandria, MO. A memorial has been established for the American Cancer Society.
