Jeffrey "Jeff" David Morningstar, 50, of Keokuk, IA, died Saturday, February 1, 2014 at the Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, IA. He was born on February 23, 1963 in Akron, OH, to Rosemarie (Gruver) and the late William Allen Morningstar. He graduated from Keokuk High School. He attended Southeastern Community College in Keokuk for one year and then transferred to Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, IA where he graduated with an Associates Degree. He also attended Iowa Lakes College for one and a half years. Jeff had been employed at Bridgeway of Galesburg until 1999. He was a member of the All Saints Catholic Church in Keokuk, IA. Jeff enjoyed music, art, cooking and the theater. He will be remembered as being giving and charitable to all who were blessed to know him. He is survived by his mother, Rosemarie of West Hartford, CT, three sisters: Peggy (Richard) Murphy of Keokuk, Jean Morningstar and Michelle Proper of West Hartford, CT, three brothers: Gregory (Kaye Oropeza) Morningstar of Orlando, FL, William Morningstar of Illinois and Mark (Debbie Runge) Morningstar of Cottage Grove, WI, nieces, a nephew and several great nieces and great nephews. Jeff is also survived by his best friend of many years, Shirley Kelly. Jeff was preceded in death by his father and step-mother, Marion E. Morningstar. A Memorial Mass was held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 8, 2014 at the All Saints Catholic Church in Keokuk, IA with Father Robert Lathrop officiating. Private Family Burial was in the Nauvoo Cemetery in Nauvoo, IL. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking donations be made to Mental Health America, Gift Office, 2000 N.
