James O. "Jim" Schulte, 56 of Keokuk died Saturday, July 22, 2017 at his home.
He was born September 3, 1960 in Keokuk, the son of Bill A. and Phyllis E. Beaty Schulte.
Jim graduated from Cardinal Stritch Catholic High School in Keokuk with the Class of 1978.
Jim had been employed at Ringstrom Electric in Keokuk and later at Keokuk Steel Castings, for ten years until his retirement on December 15, 1996. Throughout his life he worked on his own doing construction work. He always enjoyed helping others with projects.
Jim loved martial arts and held a black belt in karate. He taught classes for many years and had recently participated in a tournament and won first place. He also was an avid boater and loved to fish and hunt.
He is survived by four children, Sarah Headrick of Madison, WI, Aaron Schulte of Keokuk, James Schulte, Jr. of AZ and Jenna Schulte of AZ, four brothers, Bill Schulte of Fresno, TX, Tom Schulte of Excelsior Springs, MO, Chris Schulte of Keokuk and Tony Schulte of Keokuk, two sisters, Suzie Flockhart of Montrose, IA and Reta Welsh of Rapid City, SD, and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Margaret, in infancy.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with Pastor Brian Byquist officiating. Burial in the Sandusky Cemetery.
Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10-11 a.m., Friday at the funeral home with family meeting with friends at that time.
