James Patrick Byrne, 60, of Keokuk, IA, died Thursday, March 28, 2013 at his home. He was born on February 14, 1953 in Keokuk, IA, the son of Art and Eva Elmore Byrne. He had been employed as a cab driver for the Checker and Yellow cab companies in Keokuk. Pat enjoyed listening to blues music and reading. Pat loved the hunt of finding treasures espeically anything nautical or unique. He often went to antique stores and yard sales to look for that one special item he would treasure. Pat was a quiet and gentle man, always asking how someone else was doing and helping them if they needed it. He rarely complained about his illness or pain. He is survived by one brother, Mike Byrne and his wife Pam of Keokuk, his step-mother, Darlene Byrne of Keokuk, three step-brothers, Phil Myers and his wife Kathy, Glen Myers and his wife Donna and Dan Myers all of Keokuk and a niece and great-nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Donald Byrne and one half-brother, Harry Whiteside, Sr. A Memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 2nd, 2013 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA.
