James Charles "Jim" Wray, 76, of Keokuk, IA died Saturday, October 20, 2012 at his home. Jim was born on May 29, 1936 in Oak Park, IL the son of James Cyril and Ethelyn Martha Klemm Wray He married Sandra Shaw on February 18, 1956 in Montrose, IA. She preceded him in death on June 21, 1988. Jim was united in marriage to Mary Lou Lefler Martin on March 13, 1993 in Memphis, MO. She survives. Other survivors include one son, James Cameron Wray and his wife Kim of Austin, TX, one daughter, Joan Kirkpatrick of Colorado Springs, CO, one step-daughter Beth Ann Martin of Keokuk, one brother, Tom Wray and his wife Linda of Keokuk, IA, three sisters, Jae Powell and her husband Dave of Hamilton, IL, Sue Dresser and her husband Harry III of Montrose, IA, and Nancy Beesley and her husband Bill of LaPorte, IN, two granddaughters, Kari Krieger and Jessica Byram, one step-grandaughter, Eleanor Foulk, one great-grandson, Cameron Krieger, one sister-in-law, Charlene Wilson and her husband Larry of Poway, CA and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Jim was employed at Sethness Products in Keokuk for ten years and then worked for the Hubinger Co./Heinz/Roquette in Keokuk for 31 years before his retirement in 1996 as a Lab Supervisior. He was a lifelong resident of the Tri-State area residing in Montrose, Hamilton and Keokuk. Jim graduated from the Montrose High School, Montrose, IA and attended Keokuk Community College. Jim had served as a member of the Montrose City Council. He was also a member of the Deer Run Golf Club in Hamilton and contributed to the development of the golf course. He loved to golf and was very proud of his hole in one. Jim also loved to hunt and mow grass and volunteered his time every summer mowing the grounds at the Cardinal Stritch School in Keokuk. Jim was an avid sports fan. He especially loved baseball and played in high school and then on several area teams. He was a member of the Hamilton Sports Boosters and helped develop the sports track in Hamilton. Jim also coached Little League in Hamilton. His lifetime favorite team was the St. Louis Cardinals. Jim loved his family very much and was a proud father and grandfather. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at the Sandusky Cemetery in Sandusky, IA with Pastor Mark Hanson officiating. Memorials may be made to the Deer Run Golf Course or the American Heart Association.
