James Edward Herby Herr, 59, died Wednesday, March 19, 2014 in Keokuk, IA.
He was born May 15, 1954 in Keokuk the son of Raymond Joseph and Martha Ida Parks Herr. He was married to Jennie Bryant in Alexandria, MO in 1984. They later divorced.
Herby graduated from Keokuk Senior High with the Class of 1972. He received his Associates Degree from Southeastern Community College in Keokuk and attended Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL.
Herby had been employed at Alliance Pattern in Keokuk for sixteen years. In 2000, Herby opened P.C. Consultants in Keokuk.
Herby was a member of the Elks Club, Lions Club, Keokuk Yacht Club and South Side Boat Club in Keokuk. He was a former member of the Keokuk Chamber of Commerce and a former board member of the United Way. He was very active in community fundraisers.
Herby enjoyed playing pool, golf, boating and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes. He was a good cook and loved grilling out. Herby liked to listen to blues, rock and jazz music. He was a people person and enjoyed being with his friends. He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed help. Herby lived life to the fullest and touched the lives of many people with his smile, sense of humor and generosity.
He is survived by two sons, Raymond Herr of Keokuk and John Herr and his fiance Sara Eastman of Iowa City, IA, one brother, Jerry Herr and his wife Dona of Keokuk, his life partner, Robin Fugate of Keokuk, two nephews, Jeff Herr of Keokuk and Randy Herr of Mt. Pleasant, IA and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one great-nephew, Kyhl Herr.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Monday, March 24, 2014at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Pastor Mike Shea officiating. Burial was in the Scandinavian Cemetery in rural Argyle, IA.
