James J. Carr, 72, of Quincy, IL, formerly of Keokuk, IA, died Friday, April 10, 2009 at Sycamore Healthcare in Quincy. He was born on August 13, 1936 in Montrose, IA the son of Earnest C. and Lillian L. Bertsch Carr. He graduated from Montrose High School in Montrose, IA with the Class of 1955. He had been employed at several Auto Parts stores in the area for over 20 years and retired in 1984. He enjoyed refinishing antiques and his specialty was restoring Aladdin oil lamps. He also enjoyed gardening. He is survived by three sons, Tony Carr of Keokuk, Todd Carr of Des Moines, IA and Terry Carr and his wife Karen of Ankeny, IA, eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one sister, Lila Dockum and her husband Oren of Loveland, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother in infancy, Larry Eugene Carr. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Brother Bill Hauser officiating. Burial was in the Hickory Grove Cemetery in Keokuk, IA.
