James Arthur Miller, 83, of Keokuk, IA died Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, IA.
He was born on October 26, 1931 in Memphis, MO, the son of William and Nora Mendenhall Miller. On September 28, 1975, James was united in marriage to Waltraud Koster in Alameda, CA. She survives.
Other survivors include four brothers, Henry Miller of California, Fred Miller of Oregon, Bill Miller of Wisconsin, and Charlie Miller of Medill, MO and one sister, Mary Downing of Milton, IA and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Frances Harris and Edith Jones and three brothers, Bob Miller, Richard Miller and Gene Miller.
James was a veteran of the United States Army and proudly served his country for twenty years. He served overseas during the Korean War and the Vietnam War.
He had been employed as a youth director in Germany, was a school bus driver in Granger, MO, a security guard at the Keosippi Mall in Keokuk, and worked in the maintenance department at the Mississippi Terrace in Keokuk.
James enjoyed bowling and bowled in leagues for many years. He also enjoyed fishing and working on his cars.
A funeral service was held at 2 p.m., Saturday, September 26, 2015 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with Brother Bill Hauser officiating.
Burial with Military Rites was in the Keokuk National Cemetery.
