Jacob Hugh Lind, 71, of Argyle died peacefully in his home on Friday, January 9, 2015 Jake was born on January 7, 1944 in Keokuk, Iowa, the strapping son of Merton Lind and Marjorie Tweedy Lind of Argyle. After graduating from Iowa State University in 1966 he married his high school sweetheart Deanna Hennies in Donnellson, Iowa. They settled on the Lind family farm near Argyle, where Jake farmed for 35 years and where they raised three daughters in a house filled with music and laughter. Jake balanced his more rugged pursuits with interests including bread baking, singing, and photography. He was a gifted carpenter who built the beautiful timber frame house where he spent his last years. He relished his electronic gadgets and outdoor "toys" and was known to read instruction manuals cover to cover. He treasured the solitude and beauty of nature. His love of animals was mutual – he could often be seen with a cat happily wrapped around his legs or neck. He had a sly sense of humor, always ready with a pun. He was a quiet man with a tender heart. Jake is survived by his wife Deanna Lind of Argyle; his daughters Erinn Lind of Gilbert, Arizona, Shannon Brownell (Spencer) of Clarendon Hills, Illinois, and Megan Fox (Jason) of Omaha, Nebraska; his sister Janet Hewitt (Geof) of Calais, Vermont, and his six cherished grandchildren: Reagan and Nate Brownell, Aly Lind, and Gideon, Charlotte, and Simon Fox. He was preceded in death by his parents, Merton and Marjorie Lind, and his dear brother, Jamie. Family and friends remembered Jake on Monday, January 12, 2015 at his visitation at 1:00 p.m. and his memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with Elaine Foley officiating.
