Jack F. Mitchell, 76 of Wayland, MO, died Friday, January 25, 2013 at the Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, IA. He was born on December 31, 1936 in Ashton, MO, the son of L.C. and Goldie Perry Mitchell. He first Married Maryann Bohen. He married Hilda Cooper on June 5, 1974 in Wayland, Mo. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Kathy Grigsby and her husband Sam of Minneapolis, MN and Patricia Mitchell of Hamilton, IL, two step-daughters, Brenda Shuman and her husband Rick of Keokuk and Hilda Sargent of Wayland, one step-son, Carl Bauswell of Wayland, three grandchildren, Michael Canida, Seth Woodruff and Stephie Woodruff, five step-grandchildren, Selena Washburn, James Tate, April Tate, Chastedy Sargent and Daniel Bauswell, three great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Michaela and Michael Canida, three step-great-grandchildren, Leddia Tallman, Gavin Keefe and Brittany Bauswell, one brother, Larry Mitchell of Kahoka, MO, two sisters, Allie Rossi and her husband Tom of Ashton, MO and Alene Patterson and her husband T-Bone of Keokuk and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers-in-law, one sister-in-law and one niece, Sally Paar. He graduated from Granger High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Jack had been employed at the Kahoka Cheese Factory for twenty years and the Keokuk Prototype Foundry for twenty years. He was a member of the Chambersburg Methodist Church and the VFW Post #4342 in Kahoka. Jack enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, mowing lawns and playing with his dogs. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Kahoka, MO with Pastor Jason Peterson officiating. Burial was in the Kahoka Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the VFW Post 4342 in Kahoka.
