Jack L. Dean, 70, of Keokuk, IA, died Friday, September 8, 2006 at the Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, IA.
He was born on November 8, 1935 in Keokuk, IA, the son of Wilbur and Hazel Johnson Dean. On June 21, 1963 Jack was united in marriage to Lois Conn in Hamilton, IL. She preceded him in death on October 29, 2003.
Jack graduated from Keokuk High School in Keokuk, IA with the Class of 1954. Following graduation, Jack joined the United States Air Force. He served his country from 1954 to 1958 and spent three of those years in Europe.
He had been employed at Stone Container in Keokuk, IA for twenty-nine years, retiring on January 1, 1998.
He was a member of the First Christian Church in Keokuk, IA where he served as a Deacon. He was also a member of the American Legion, the Elks Club and the Sky High Investment Club.
Jack enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and golfing. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by two daughters, Joyce Ewing and her husband Craig of Keokuk, IA, and Debra Clark of Keokuk, IA, three sons, Mike Conn and his wife Barb of Hannibal, MO, Bob Conn and his wife Beth of Keokuk, IA and Mark Dean and his wife Gina of Keokuk, IA, two sisters, Judy Evans and her husband Jack of Keokuk, IA and Susan Hale and her husband Steven of Keokuk, IA, one half-brother, "Ed" Charles Smith and his wife Becky of Croton, IA, sixteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father, John R. Smith, two brothers, Frank Dean and Richard Dean and one sister, Patricia Mathes.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, September 12 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Reverend Bill Mitchell officiating. Burial with Flag Presentation wasat the Keokuk National Cemetery.
A Memorial was established forthe First Christian Church of Keokuk.
