Truxton Nusbaum, 87, of Keokuk, IA, died Monday, May 28, 2007 at his home. He was born on November 8, 1919 in Bloomfield, IA the son of Victor and Hazel Galpin Nusbaum. On February 1, 1942, Truxton was united in marriage to Maxine Tanke in Keokuk, IA. She preceded him in death on September 19, 2004. Truxton was a veteran of the United States Navy and proudly served his country during WW II. He had been employed as manager of the J.C. Penney store in Keokuk, IA for seventeen years and as manager for Gambles-Skogmo for twenty two years. After his retirement in 1984, he worked as the manager of Kuppenheimers Clothing in Minneapolis, MN. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Keokuk. He was a past member of the Keokuk Rotary Club and the Keokuk Kiwanis. Truxton enjoyed fishing, golfing and reading. He is survived by two sons, Craig A. Nusbaum and his wife Sandra of Canfield, OH and James T. Nusbaum and his wife Margaret of Montrose, IA, six grandchildren, Douglas Nusbaum and his wife Rachel, Eric Nusbaum and his wife Lisa, Michelle Marshall and her husband Justin, Christy Bunnell and her husband Dave, Missy Benner and her husband Kenton and James Nusbaum and his wife Tonya, eleven great-grandchildren, Emily Nusbaum, Katharine Nusbaum, Maddie Nusbaum, Truxton Marshall, Kaleigha Marshall, Thomas Benner, Keiten Benner, Andrea Benner, Kelsie Bunnell, Kimberly Bunnell, and Kadance Nusbaum. He was also preceded in death by one sister LaDessa Richard. A memorial service was at 1 p.m., Friday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Reverend David Herron officiating. Burial with military rites was in the Keokuk National Cemetery in Keokuk, IA. Memorials may be made to the Lee County Hospice.
