Irene Jeanette Starks

Irene Jeanette Starks, 74, of Keokuk, died Saturday, December 23, 2017 at the Montrose Health Center in Montrose, IA. She was born on May 3, 1943 in Keokuk, IA, the daughter of John and Gladys Berry Bratcher. She graduated from Keokuk High School with the Class of 1961. Jeanette had been employed at Sheller Globe in Keokuk. She was a member of New Bethel Church in Keokuk. Jeanette was very artistic and enjoyed doing pencil drawings of landscapes. She was also a talented cake decorator. In her younger years she played church league softball. Christmas was Jeanette's favorite time of year and she looked forward to getting together with her family at the holidays. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she loved to spend time with them. She is survived by two daughters, Deana Nye (Gary) and Penny Starks White (Chris) all of Keokuk, two sons. Scott Starks of Keokuk and Harold Miller (Julie) of Watts, OK, two sisters, Charlene Lunsford (Paul) of Moberly, MO and Marie Scott of Eddyville, IA, 12 grandchildren, Bill and Anthony Miller, Brett, Quintin and Pyper Starks, Gabi Lefler, Brittany and Riley Nye, Christian and Jacob Young, Blaine Austen and Mehl Wright, Two great grandchildren, Connor and Kaeden Miller and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Kimberly Miller, who died at birth, one sister, Jane Robinson and one great grandson, Dawson Nye. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with Pastor Don Skinner officiating. A memorial service was held on December 28, 2017 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, Iowa. Memorials may be made to the family to help with expenses.
