Inez L. Ballew, 92, of Keokuk, IA, died Friday, July 1, 2016 at River Hills Village in Keokuk. She was born on November 16, 1923 in Downing, MO, the daughter of Harry and Myrtle Aldridge Broadwell. On June 9, 1944, Inez was united in marriage to Edward Ballew in Downing, MO. He preceded her in death on June 25, 2010. Inez graduated from Downing High School with the Class of 1943. Following graduation she was a teacher at a country school in the area. After moving to Keokuk she was employed at Swifts and later at Dryden's and JC Penney. She was a member of the Knights of Pythias Sisters. Inez enjoyed traveling, collecting antiques and solving word puzzles. She was a loving mother and grandmother and was very proud of all her grandchildren. She is survived by one son, Richard Ballew and his wife Nancy of Donnellson, IA, one daughter, Barbara Ballew of Prophetstown, IL, two grandchildren, Jennifer Dawson and her husband Jim and Heather Ballew, four great-grandchildren, Christopher Berg (Sarah), Chloe Berg (Darren Cassiday), Elizabeth Dawson and Emily Dawson and one great-great-grandson, Dean Cassiday. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Raymond Broadwell and Paul Eugene Broadwell. A graveside service was held at 10 am Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at the Arni Cemetery in Lancaster, MO. Memorials may be made to River Hills Village or the Heritage Center in Keokuk.
