Illene Robertson, 84, of Keokuk, died Thursday, September 8, 2016 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, IA. She was born on September 27, 1931 in Keokuk, IA, the daughter of Martin Leroy and Irene Lambert Washburn. On June 12, 1949, Illene was united in marriage to Samuel Robertson, Jr. at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Keokuk. He preceded her in death on June 15, 1995. She had been employed at Sheller Globe/BTR in Keokuk for thirty-two years. Illene was a member of All Saints Parish in Keokuk. She was also a member of the United Rubber Workers Local 444. She enjoyed reading mystery and romance novels and visiting the casino. Illene loved her family and the greatest joy in her life was spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by four grandchildren, Jesse Hall (Gerald) of Cedar Rapids, IA, Lisa Robertson (Chad Hofer) of Baxter, IA, Christopher Robertson of Arkansas and Samantha Canchola of Texas, nine great-grandchildren, four sisters, Shirley Dodge (Ken) of Hamilton, IL, Kathleen Boltz (Robert), Sharon Cockrell and Sheila Kay all of Keokuk, one brother, Pat Washburn (Sandra) of Des Moines, IA, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also preceded in death by one son, Samuel Robertson, four sisters, Dolores Wadden, Ruth Giannaris, Vivian Mahoney and Lucille Solomon and six brothers, John Washburn, Anthony Washburn, Carl Washburn, Keith Washburn Glen Washburn and one brother in infancy. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at All Saints Parish in Keokuk with Father Lathrop officiating. Burial was in the Keokuk National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.
