View Video Tribute Ila Mae Vermazen, 85, of Montrose, IA, died Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at the Montrose Health Center in Montrose, IA. She was born on December 4, 1924 in New Boston, IA, the daughter of Earl and Greta Harrison Kite. On April 2, 1941, Ila was united in marriage to Robert Louis Vermazen in Keokuk, IA. He survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Eigenfeld and her husband Roger of Madison, WI and Becky McCorkle and her husband Corky of Knoxville, IA, two sons, Dan Vermazen and his wife Shelly of Cedar Rapids, IA and Jim Vermazen and his wife Vicki of Montrose, IA, sixteen grandchildren, Peter Eigenfeld, Whitney Eigenfeld, Kirsten Eigenfeld, Jacqui Cavagnetto, Lauren Wrightsman, Nathan Eigenfeld, Kurt Vermazen, Kory Vermazen, Klay Vermazen, Kacey Vermazen, Tobi Hoyer, Heidi Braksiek, Bob McCorkle, Andy McCorkle, Laura Belville and Leann Svejda, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, three sisters-in-law, Francine Kite of West Point, IA, Bessie Kite of Mt. Sterling, IA and Mary Kite of Argyle, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, Julian, John, Bill, Otis, Charlie and Lloyd Kite, three sisters, Esther Honeycutt, Nettie Alberts and Reta St. Clair and one granddaughter, Kristine Vermazen. Ila had been a partner with her husband Robert in running their family farm. She had also been employed at the Sheaffer Pen Corporation in Ft. Madison, IA for over ten years. She was a member of the Four Square Church in Keokuk, IA. Ila was a great cook and loved to make favorite dishes and treats for her family. She loved her children and grandchildren very much and always enjoyed spending time with them and playing a good card game of Canasta. Funeral serviceswere held at 10 a.m., Thursday. May 27at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Pastor Dan Davis and Pastor Roger Eigenfeld officiating. Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Park in Keokuk, IA. Memorials may be made to the Montrose Public Library.
