Ida Belle Johnson, 87, of Keokuk, IA, died Saturday, August 22, 2009 at River Hills Village in Keokuk, IA. She was born on March 20, 1922 in Lee County, IA, the daughter of Theodore and Lelia Best Carlson. She married Eldon Mason on September 18, 1941 in Kirksville, MO. He preceded her in death on November 15, 1952. On January 6, 1962, Ida was united in marriage to George Johnson in Keokuk, IA. He preceded her in death on February 9, 2006. Ida attended Pleasant Grove School in Argyle and graduated in 1940 from Keokuk High School. She then attended Kirksville State Teacher's College for one year. Prior to her second marriage she was employed at Sheller Globe in Keokuk, IA. Ida was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Keokuk, the Keokuk Area Hospital Auxiliary and was a volunteer for the American Red Cross Bloodmobile. She is survived by one son, Roger Mason and his wife Jerilyn of Gilbert, AZ, one step-daughter, Terry Ann Reinitz and her husband Gary of Sharps Chapel, TN, four step-sons, Gary Johnson and his wife Chris of Keokuk, IA, Mark Johnson and his wife Carol of Quincy, IL, David Johnson and his wife Paula of Charlotte, NC and Brian Johnson of Palm Harbor, FL, eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, four sisters, Frances Testman and Lily Stark of Keokuk, IA, Florence Skonitzki of Dothan, AL and Ina Warlell of Arlington, TX She was also preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters. Memorial services were held at 10 a.m., Monday, August 24, 2009 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Pastor Bob Lane officiating. Private burial will be held at a later date in the Keokuk National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Keokuk Area Hospital or the American Red Cross .
