Hubert L. Stockwell, 87, of Cypress, TX, formerly of Montrose, IA died Friday, May 4, 2012 at the Vitas Hospice Memorial City Medical Center in Houston, TX. He was born on February 17, 1925 in Argyle, IA the son of John and Olia Comstock Stockwell. On June 30, 1945 Hubert was united in marriage to Alta Allen at the Ft. Madison Church of the Nazarene, Ft. Madison, IA, she survives and lives in Cypress, TX. Other survivors include three daughters, Carma (Earl) Amos of Houston, TX, Cheryl (Robert) Del'Ve of Rancho Mirage, CA, Rebecca (Terry) Wathan of Durant, IA, three grandchildren, Michelle Bartlett, Stanley Stockwell, Jr., and Heather Johnson, eight great grandchildren, Thomas Bartlett, Jr, Larynne Bartlett, Dakota Stockwell, Kyla Stockwell, Rachel Johnson, Rebecca Johnson, Sarah Johnson and Christopher Johnson, Jr, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by one son, Stanley Stockwell, four brothers, Leo, Jessie, Floyd and Earl Stockwell and one brother in infancy, five sisters, Edith Sheffler, Bertha Roseberry, Ruby Fowler, Wilma Walter and Dorothy Ensminger. Hubert was a veteran of the United States Navy and proudly served his country during WW II. He was a lifelong member of the Montrose Church of the Nazarene, Three Score in Ft. Madison, IA, and the American Federation of Grain Millers Union. Hubert was employed at General Mills/Ogilvie Mills for 36 years retiring in 1987. Hubert loved to spend time with his family and friends. He loved to fish, loved the ocean and loved to garden. He was an amazing son, husband, father and friend! Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 10, 2012 at the Montrose Church of the Nazarene in Montrose, IA with Rev. Preston Smith officiating. Burial with military rites was in the Montrose Cemetery, Montrose, IA. Memorials may be made to the Montrose Church of the Nazarene.
