Howard R. Burgess, II, 33, of St. Francisville, MO, formerly of Keokuk, IA, died Sunday, June 6, 2010 at his home. He was born August 2, 1976 in Keokuk, IA, the son of Howard R. Burgess, Sr. and Vickie Lynn Blaise Burgess. On April 19, 2010, he was united in marriage to Holly Hendricks in St. Francisville, MO. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Austin Burgess and Matthew Lefler, both of Keokuk, IA, one daughter Hailey Burgess of West Point, IA, one step-daughter, Nikayla Gibson of Brookfield, MO, one step-son, Shane Murphy of St. Francisville, MO, his father Howard "Spike" Burgess and his wife Kathy of Sandusky, IA, one sister, Brenda S. Witte and her husband Kenneth of Rock Island, IL, his grandparents, Mildred Burgess of Keokuk, Ailene Blaise of Keokuk and Elmer Burgess of Keokuk, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Mikayla Overhulser, his mother, his grandfather, Charles Blaise, and one cousin, Cory Blaise. Howard had been employed as a construction worker. Howard loved to go fishing and never missed a chance to head to the river and find the best spot where the fish were biting. He also enjoyed being on the computer and spending time with his boys, playing games together and taking them fishing. A Celebration of Howard's life was held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 9 at Rand Park in Keokuk, IA in the Main Shelter House with words of comfort by Pastor Kevin Hardcastle. Memorials may be made to the family.
