Howard L. Bond, 78, of Keokuk, IA, died Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at the Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, IA.
He was born on March 15, 1932 in Kahoka, MO, the son of Forrest W. and Ruby E. Egley Bond. On June 10, 2000, Howard was united in marriage to Brenda Lefler in Keokuk, IA. She survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Dale Bond and his wife Michelle of Nixa, MO, Jerry Bond of Springfield, MO, James Bond and his wife Angie of Galena, MO, two daughters, Sheila Goodrich and Ruby Flin both of Springfield, MO, one step-daughter, Virginia St. Clair and her husband Duncan of Keokuk, one step-son, Steve Lefler of Keokuk, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, one sister, Sue Powers and her husband Kenneth of LaGrange, MO one brother, Dale Bond and his wife Marlene of Gray Lakes, IL and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Regina Bond Rondou.
Howard was a veteran of the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Korean war.
He had been employed at Sheller Globe in Keokuk.
Howard enjoyed fishing, trapping, watching western movies and junking. He was a great handyman and was always willing to help anyone fix things. Howard especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Thursday, May 13 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Pastor Dan Davis officiating. Burial with military rites was in the Keokuk National Cemetery.
