Hobert J. "Toby" McNew, Jr., 72, of Keokuk, IA, died Saturday, October 3, 2009 at his home. He was born on June 26, 1937 in Omaha, NE, the son of Hobert J. and Blanche Etta Albert McNew. He had been employed at Decker Manufacturing in Keokuk for ten years, retiring in 1994. Toby enjoyed flower gardening, cooking and collecting things. He is survived by two sons, Hobert James "Toby" McNew III and Craig McNew and his wife Amy all of Omaha, NE, one daughter, Dona May Ladd of Omaha NE, one sister, Rose Marie Bolton of Denver, CO, one brother Gerald McNew of Mena, AR, his life companion of twenty-one years, Terrie Kinkade of Keokuk, IA and her son Michael Howes and his wife Jolene of Hamilton, IL, ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Roger Allan McNew and one daughter, Lola McNew. A Gathering of Remembrance for family and friends was held Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA. Memorials may be made to the Lee County Hospice.
