Hilda Cooper Mitchell, 78 of Wayland died Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at her home in Wayland. She was born May 18, 1938 in Keokuk, IA the daughter of Dexter P. and Hilda Ruth Garrett Cooper. She was united in marriage to Jack F. Mitchell on June 5, 1974 in Wayland, Mo. He preceded her in death on January 25, 2013. Throughout her life she loved to crocheting beautiful blankets and gave them as gifts to her family and friends. After she was unable to crochet she enjoyed doing word search puzzles. She is survived by two daughters, Brenda Shuman and her husband Rick of Keokuk and Hilda Sargent of Wayland, one son, Carl Bauswell of Wayland, a step-son, John Egley and his wife Carrie of Wayland, six grandchildren, Selena Lawson and her husband Ron, James Tate, April Tate, Chastedy Sargent, Daniel Bauswell and Noah Egley, three great-grandchildren, Leddia Tallman, Gavin Keefe and Brittany Bowden, a great great grandson Alexander Lawson, a brother, Charles Cooper of Alexandria, one brother in law, Larry Mitchell of Kahoka, MO, an uncle, Jack Garrett of Alexandria, MO, an aunt, Daisy Leggett of Keokuk, IA and her four legged companions, Pookie and Jakie and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Ricky Bauswell, one brother, Dexter Cooper Jr., and one sister, Betty Lou Cooper. Graveside services were held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2016 at the Kahoka Cemetery in Kahoka with Brother Bill Hauser officiating. Memorials may be made to the family.
