Obituary

Hilda Ruth Cooper, 88, of Alexandria, MO, died Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at Lexington Square in Keokuk, IA. She was born on November 30, 1919 in Clark County, MO the daughter of Judson and Laura B. Kay Garrett. In 1936, she was united in marriage to Dexter P. Cooper. He preceded her in death on August 10, 1991. Hilda enjoyed crocheting, working crossword puzzles, gardening, and cooking. She is survived by one daughter, Hilda Mitchell and her husband Jack of Wayland, MO, one son Charles Cooper of Alexandria, MO, her special companion, her dog Buddy, two brothers, Jack Garrett of Alexandria, MO, William Garrett and his wife Betty of Keokuk, IA one sister, Daisy Leggett of Keokuk, IA, three grandchildren, Carl Bauswell, Brenda Shuman, and Hilda Sargent, eight great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by one son, Dexter Cooper Jr., one daughter Betty Lou Cooper, one brother Bob Garrett, one sister Betty Burgess, three grandchildren, Ricky Bauswell, Charles Cooper Jr., Dexter James Cooper, and one great granddaughter, Wendy Bauswell. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 29 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Reverend Bill Mitchell officiating. Burial was in the Buena Vista Mound in Keokuk, IA. Memorials may be made to the family.
