Hilda L. Comstock, 88, of Montrose, IA, died Sunday, November 2, 2008 at the Ft. Madison Community Hospital in Ft. Madison, IA. She was born November 5, 1919, the daughter of Emit Roy and Virginia Mae Hemingway Comstock in Jefferson Township, Lee County IA. She is survived by a brother, Larry Comstock and his wife Annie of Montrose, IA, two nieces, Mary Virginia Marshall and her husband Richard of Montrose, IA, and Becky Davis of Montrose, IA and two nephews, Tommy Cale and his wife Carolyn of Ft. Madison, IA and Lonny Cale and his wife Gail of New Boston, IA and several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, James Edward Comstock, two sisters, Erma Cale and Betty Jean Comstock. Hilda attended Montrose High School and graduated with the Class of 1940. She had been employed by Shaeffer Pen as a laborer for forty years before her retirement in 1982. She was a member of the Montrose Church of the Nazarene and had also taught Sunday school, and she also served on the Care Review board at Montrose Care Center. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Reverend Preston Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Montrose Cemetery in Montrose, Iowa. Visitation will be held after 2 p.m. Tuesday with the family meeting with friends from 6 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the donors choice.
