Herman "Butch" LeRoy Skow, 74, of Argyle, IA, died Tuesday at the Donnellson Care Center in Donnellson, IA.
He was born on April 24, 1941, near New Boston, IA, the son of Richard and Hazel Mason Skow.
Butch was a veteran of the United States Army/Air Borne and served his country from 1962 – 1965.
He was a life-long member of the New Boston-Argyle communities. He was baptized and a member of the New Boston Methodist Church.
Butch trained and worked as a welder at Bandag in Muscatine, IA and in Goodfield, IL. He also farmed with his brother Red, and worked for other farmers in the area.
He was an avid Nascar fan.
He is survived by three brothers, John (Judy) Skow and Paul Skow all of Argyle and Richard (Vicky) Skow of the Chicago Area, three sisters, Helen (Gerold) Kemper of Montrose, Norma Curtis of Kahoka, MO and Geraldine Coats of Pittsburg, PA, a sister-in-law, Louise Skow of Montrose, several nieces and nephews and special friends, John Walter and Dawn Beckinger who offered much kindness and support to Butch.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Lisa Ann and a brother, Gerald (Red) Skow.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, August 9, 2015 at the Argyle Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Bill Willis officiating.
There was no visitation.
Memorials may be made to the Argyle Presbyterian Church, the Argyle Fire Department or to the donor's choice.
The Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk is in charge of arrangements.
