Herbert J. Smith, 81 of Mantachie, Mississippi died Sunday, December 26, 2010 at the Countrywood Plantation Care Center in Mantachie, Mississippi. He was born March 5, 1929 in Opheim, Illinois, the son of Arthur H. and Lewis Ione Miller Smith. On September 26, 1960, he was united in marriage to Arveda "Bea" Forquer. She preceded him in death on September 25, 2003. He is survived by two step-sons, Tom Rossi and his wife Hattie Mae of Amory, MS and Roger Rossi and his wife Deloris of Hereford, AZ, two brothers, Gene Smith and his wife Mary Jo and James Smith and his wife Vuel all of Farmington, IA, a sister Betty Grimm and her husband Marvin of Phoenix, AZ, a brother-in-law, Jesse Forquer and his wife Wilma of Wyaconda, MO, 11 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Robert Smith. Funeral services were held 2 p.m., Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Kahoka with Pastor Glen Yoder officiating. Burial was in the Kahoka Cemetery.
