Henry B. "Bud" Van Hesley, 91, of Keokuk, IA died at 6:40 p.m. August 4, 2005 at the home of his daughter in Keokuk, IA. He was born May 8, 1914 in Keokuk, IA, the son of George Henry and Bertha Littell Van Hesley. On June 28th, 1940, Bud was united in marriage to Armon F. Eaton in Keokuk, IA. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Camella J. Achelpohl of Keokuk, IA and Joyce (Roger) McGraw of Galesburg, IL, one grandson, Terry B. McGraw of Galesburg, IL, two sisters, Madeline Morner of Texas and Doris "Jenny" Holben of Keokuk, IA, one sister-in-law, Fern L. Ryder of South Bend, IN and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three sisters, Evelyn "Snook" Mann, Freida Nixon, and Mildred "Sis" Van Hesley. Bud was employed by Keokuk Steel Casting in the maintenance department for 42 years, retiring in 1978. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Keokuk, IA for over 50 years, a member of the Sunshine Class and participated in the Mississippi Project Mission, traveling to Koscuisko, Mississippi on several occasions. Bud did woodworking, leather craft and was a precision machinist, being very talented at mechanical solutions. He enjoyed being outside maintaining his home and his yard. He was a very caring man and was devoted to his wife of 65 years and his two daughters. Bud was a loving son, husband, father and grandfather and cherished the times he spent with his family. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, August 8 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Reverend Emmanuel Dass and Reverend Bill Olmsted officiating. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk, IA. Memorials may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church or the Lee County Hospice.
