Obituary

Hazel Pearl LeMaster, 90, of Alexandria, Missouri, died Monday, December 17, 2007 at Lexington Square in Keokuk, IA. She was born on December 14, 1917 in Monmouth, Illinois, the daughter of Reabern Smith and Gertrude Pearl England Gregory. On February 27, 1933, she was united in marriage to Norman LeMaster in Carthage, Illinois. He preceded her in death on April 13, 1987. Hazel was a member of the St. Francisville United Methodist Church and taught Sunday School. She was also a member of the St. Francisville Clematis Garden Club and served as the treasurer for the St. Francisville Community Center. For several years she wrote the article "News and Such" along with other articles for the Media newspaper. She enjoyed gardening and loved to quilt. She wrote numerous books for the Historical Society and a book of poems. She really enjoyed doing genealogy. Hazel is survived by three sons; Charles LeMaster and his friend Myrna Feagans of Keokuk, Iowa, David LeMaster and his wife Sandy of St. Francisville, Missouri, and Ron Norvell and his wife Marsha of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, four daughters; Norma Rye and her husband Jesse (Corky) of Revere, Missouri, Anna King of St. Francisville, Missouri, Dorothy Sanchez and her husband Gregg of Elkins, Arkansas, and Tina Lucas of Canton, Missouri, ten grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren, and nine great great grandchildren, a sister Kathleen Horton of Kahoka, Missouri and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, December 20 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Kahoka, MO with Reverend Goldie Laymon officiating. Burial was in the Sand Cemetery in St. Francisville, Missouri.
