Gregory Kenneth Douglas, 57, of Keokuk, IA, died Saturday, April 23, 2005 at his home. He was born on October 29, 1947 in Keokuk, IA, the son of Kenneth and Naomi Douglas. He graduated from Keokuk High School with the Class of 1966. He attended the University of Kansas on a full basketball scholarship. Following college he played semi-pro ball in Europe. Greg Douglas was one of the greatest high school basketball players ever in the state of Iowa. He led the Keokuk High School Chiefs to two tremendous seasons, 24-2 and third place in the state Tournament in 1965 and then 22-1 and a sub-state finish in 1966. He averaged 25 points and 18 rebounds per game as a senior and was All-American for two years. Greg had been employed with the City of Keokuk. He loved to listen to Miles Davis music, play basketball and travel. He is survived by nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Wendell Douglas and one sister Grethyl Gooch A memorial was established for the Keokuk High School Athletic Boosters.
