Gracia E. Wright

View Video Tribute Gracia Wright, 88, of Keokuk, IA died Thursday, February 9, 2012 at her home. She was born September 3, 1923 in Oak Park, IL the daughter of Oscar and Zelva Jones Erickson. On June 13, 1942 she was united in marriage to Charles Wright in Kahoka, MO. He preceded her in death on December 27, 1981. Gracia graduated from the Addison High School in Villa Park, IL with the Class of 1941. She had been employed at the Lee County Mental Health Center for thirty years. She was a member of the New Testament Christian Church in Keokuk, IA. She had volunteered at Birthright for many years. Gracia was a voracious reader. After her retirement, Gracia began to travel and never missed an opportunity to take off on an adventure. She was a devoted wife and mother and enjoyed spending time with her family. She is survived by two sons, Chuck Wright and his wife Judi of Sandy, UT and Carson Wright of Petoskey, MI, two daughters, LeNell Smith and her husband Ray of Gillette, WY and Sarah Wright of Keokuk, IA, ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, one brother, Chuck Erickson and his wife Jean of Wheaton, IL and one sister, Ardeth Johnson and her husband Bill of Bristol, CT. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, James Erickson and Glen Erickson and one sister, Miriam Yarrow. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Monday at the New Testament Christian Church in Keokuk, IA with Reverend Alex Wright and Brother Bill Hauser officiating. Burial was in the Keokuk National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the New Testament Christian Church in Keokuk, IA.
