Goldie Eileen Hawkins, 90, died Monday, April 2, 2007 at the Henry County Hospital Park Place in Mt. Pleasant, IA. She was born on July 24, 1916 in Argyle, IA the daughter of Sherman Tecumsah and Barbara Mary Bentzinger Horner. On July 1, 1941, Goldie was united in marriage to Morris L. Hawkins in Kahoka, MO. He preceded her in death on July 18, 1972. She was a graduate of the Argyle High School in Argyle, IA and moved to Keokuk, IA in 1935. She had been employed for many years as a nurse's aide at Graham Hospital in Keokuk and later did Home Nursing Care. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Keokuk. She enjoyed quilting and collecting antiques. She was a loving mother and grandmother and cherished the times she spent with her family. She is survived by one daughter, Katherine L. Wenig and her husband Norman of Mt. Pleasant, IA, two sons, Maurice R. Hawkins and his wife Connie of Keokuk, IA and Donald E. Hawkins and his wife Sue of Audubon, IA, six grandchildren, Philip Dickey of Des Moines, IA, Jane Foreman of Grimes, IA, Tim Hawkins of Keokuk, IA, Ann Gower of Green Valley, MO, and Jennifer & Gregory Hawkins of Audubon, IA, and five great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Sherman Horner and a sister, Erma Baldwin. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Thursday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Reverend Norm Wenig officiating. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk, IA.
