Gloris Patricia "Pat" Johnson, 85, of Montrose, IA passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at home with her family by her side. She was born July 22, 1930 in Keokuk the daughter of Hurshel and Lillie Symmonds. She was united in marriage to Martin LeRoy Johnson on December 13, 1953. He survives. Pat was a lifetime resident of Montrose. She retired from nursing after forty years at Keokuk Area Hospital. She and her daughter also ran a licensed daycare, Toddlers n Tots, in the mid 80's where everyone affectionately called her "Grandma Patty" When she retired from nursing, she and LeRoy, along with their children, established Johnson Farms. You could always find them on Saturday mornings at the Keokuk Farmers Market. Every fall they would host the "Mother Goose Nursery Rhyme" pumpkin patch and hayride where all the area kids had the opportunity to come visit. Pat enjoyed gardening, crocheting, making quilts for all of her newborn grandbabies and loved to read. Her family was the center of her life and she was theirs. She is survived by five daughters, Lois (Steve) Thompson of Louisburg, KS, Linda (Jim) Bleything of Saverton, MO, Lori (Lyle) Matteson of Donnellson, IA, Pam (John) Patterson of Keokuk, IA, and Patty Guymon of Lee's Summit, MO, three sons, John (Peggy) Johnson of Keokuk, Jim (April) Johnson of Montrose and Joe (Holli) Johnson of Montrose, IA, 22 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Bernice Johnson of Keokuk. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, 4 sisters and 3 infant grandsons. Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. Friday, November 13, 2015 at the Montrose Cemetery with Jed Linebaugh officiating. Memorial contributions can be made in Pat's memory to Lee County Hospice.
