Glen Richard Meyers, 86, of Keokuk, IA, died Saturday, April 9, 2005 at his home. He was born on July 31, 1918 in Wahoo, Nebraska, the son of Dabney and Annie Avery Meyers. On October 13, 1973, Glen was united in marriage to Bonnie Roberts in Alexandria, MO. She survives. Other survivors include two son, Glen A. Meyers and his wife Janan and Kirk Alan Hawkins all of Keokuk, IA one daughter, Stacey Lynn Jones of Keokuk, IA, one step-son, Richard Rowlette and his wife Evelee of Keokuk, IA, one stepdaughter, Leora Vance and her husband Bill of Hamilton, IL, three grandchildren, Lukas Wayne Meyers, Matthew Glen Meyers and Dabney Boyd Jones. four sisters, Billie Rose Hickens of Wichita Falls, TX, , Doris Fawl of Overbrook, KS, Bonnie Good of Havensville, KS and Judy Perino of Krilua Kona, Hawaii, one brother, Jackie Rose of Grandview, MO, his mother-in-law, Blanche Roberts of Keokuk, IA, one sister-in-law, Jean Kratzer and her husband Jack of Ft. Madison, IA, one brother-in-law, Jerry Roberts and his wife Bonita of Keokuk, IA, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Everett Meyers and John Rose, one sister, Juanita Sparks, and his father-in-law, Boyd C. Roberts, Brothers-in-law, Larry Roberts and O.J. Hickens. Glen had been a resident of Keokuk for 60 years, coming to Keokuk from Glasgow, MO in 1945. In 1953, he started his own business Meyers Sanitary Service, and was owner and operator for 45 years. He retired from the business in 1989. He was a member of the Bel Air Baptist Church in Keokuk. Glen enjoyed traveling, fishing, turtle hunting and playing cards. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Reverend Mike McMillen officiating. Burial was in the Scandinavian Cemetery. Memorials were made to the Lee County Hospice or the Scandinavian Cemetery.
