Gladys Irene Laisle, 97, of Alexandria, MO, died Thursday, April 5 at the Clark County Nursing Home in Kahoka, MO.
She was born on March 19, 1910 in Lee County, Iowa, the daughter of Waldmere and Carrie Peterson Testman. She married Lloyd Alvis on October 12, 1927 in Keokuk, IA. He preceded her in death on April 19, 1937. She then married Albert Lee "Boots" Brooks on January 28, 1939 in Alexandria, MO and he preceded her in death on December 17, 1961. On November 20, 1971, Gladys was united in marriage to Oscar Laisle in Alexandria, MO. He preceded her in death on March 10, 1979.
She had been employed at Swift Company in Keokuk for sixteen years and had sold Stanley Home Products for forty-seven years.
Gladys attended the Presbyterian Church in Alexandria, MO. She was a member of the Moose Auxiliary Lodge, the VFW in Kahoka, MO and the Royal Neighbors in Wayland, MO.
She loved to bowl and had continued to bowl until she was 86 years old. She was an enthusiastic salesperson for Stanley Products and enjoyed putting on Stanley parties. Gladys was a people person and loved to spend time visiting with her friends and family.
She is survived by one daughter, Georgia Roberts of Wayland, MO, one son, Patric Brooks and his wife Jeanne of Kahoka, MO, twenty-one grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren, two sisters, Carrie Gates of Keokuk, IA, and Isabelle Ewers of Pryor, OK, three sisters-in-law, Frances Testman of Keokuk, IA, Millie Phillips of Dallas City, IL and Leta Brooks of Wayland, MO.
She was also preceded in death by three sons, Kenneth, Clarence and Lloyd Alvis, one daughter, Bonnie Brooks, four brothers, Raymond, Glen, Clyde and Walter Testman and one sister, Sarah Parish.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Brother Bill Hauser officiating. Burial was in the Hickory Grove Cemetery in rural Keokuk, IA.
