George Shannan "Buzz" Busby

View Video Tributes George Shannan "Buzz" Busby, 94, of Kahoka, MO, died Saturday, November 19, 2011 at the Clark County Nursing Home in Kahoka. He was born on January 29, 1917 in Granger, MO, the son of Carlisle and Georgiana Shannan Busby. On July24, 1943 Shannan was united in marriage to Juanita Marie Nichols. She preceded him in death on August 20, 1998. To this union was born one son, Ronald W. Busby. Buzz finished school in the 8th grade to help put his sisters through school. He broke and traded horses all of his life. On occasion even the local veterinarian would call him to ask what to do for a horse. He farmed while working at Fruehauf. He would take off work in the summer to farm and then go back to work in the winter. Buzz was a member of several saddle clubs, the Missouri Longriders and served as Mayor of Luray at one time. He enjoyed coon hunting and of course taking care of his horses. Buzz's family was his life, he loved his granddaughters, playing with his great grandkids, visiting with friends and spending time with his family especially over family dinners. He is survived by one son, Ronald Busby and his wife Karen of Luray, MO, two granddaughters, Dawn Wood and her husband Gorden , Niki Wardlow and her husband, Jake, all of Kahoka, MO, three step grandchildren Clint Boatman, Jason Boatman and Linda Scovern all of Kahoka, great grandchildren, Shannan Hoenig, Cheyann Hoenig, Samantha Laffoon, Sidney Wood, Blaine Wardlow and Madison Wardlow all of Kahoka, MO, six step great grandkids and one great great step grandchild, one sister, Lyda Vice of Kahoka, MO, nieces and nephews. Buzz was also preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Osa Hasper, Philena Calvert, three brothers-in-law Stuart Vice, Charlie Hasper and Ward Calvert. Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Kahoka, Missouri with Brother Bill Hauser officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery in rural Arbela, Missouri. Memorials may be made to the Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
