Obituary

George Glasgow, Jr., 75 of Keokuk, IA, died Wednesday, August 10, 2005 at his home. He was born on May 29. 1930 in Biggsville, IL, the son of George Glasgow Sr., and Estella Spiker Glasgow. On April 25, 1948, George was united in marriage to Madge Estelle Riley. She survives. Other survivors include one son, Danny Glasgow Sr. and his wife Nedra of Argyle, IA, two daughters, Rachael Trimble and her husband Bill of Keokuk, IA, Tammy Tweedy and her husband Doug of Auxvasse, MO, one brother, Don Glasgow and his wife Nadine of Keokuk, IA, three grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one step-great-grandchild, one great-great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews, many friends and his special dog, Tina. He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter in infancy, Dianna Lynn Glasgow. George had been employed at Hubingers and Heinz in Keokuk, IA for forty-two years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Keokuk, the Elks Club, the Southside Boat Club and the Eagle Lodge. He enjoyed playing golf, poker and euchre, and going to the boat to play the slots. His grandchildren were his pride and joy and he loved to spend time with them. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and had been devoted to caring for his family. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 12 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Brother Bill Hauser officiating. Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Park in Keokuk, IA. A memorial has been established for the Shriners Children's Hospital.
