View Video Tribute George "Art" Ardith Fields, 72, of Keokuk, IA died Saturday, July 9, 2011 at the Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, IA. He was born July 27, 1938 in St. Louis, MO the son of Nathaniel and Pearl Goforth Fields. He was a veteran of the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. George had been employed by Piercy Janitorial and worked at Stone Container. George loved to play video poker and watching old movies, especially westerns. He cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren. He is survived by his lifelong companion, Antonia Tuttle DeSherlia of Keokuk, IA, six sons, Kevin Fields and his companion Teracea Lambert of Keokuk, IA, Stan Gittings and his wife Elizabeth Gittings of Keokuk, IA and Bill DeSherlia and his companion Michelle Rhodes of Keokuk, IA, Tim DeSherlia of Keokuk, IA, Donald Burris, Jr. and his wife Kay of Goshen, IN and David Fields of Florida, two daughters, Shari Burris of Goshen, IN and Melissa Fields Myers of Millersburg, IN, twelve grandchildren, Emma Lambert-Fields, Patrick Lambert-Fields, Colby Lambert-Fields, Brian Gittings, Samantha Gittings, Shannon DeSherlia, A.J. Eagley, Pearl Myers, Mackenzie Gerger, Catherine House, Stephanie House and Jennifer House and three sisters, Dixie Carroll of Duport, IL, Doris Holloway of Missouri and Martha Kiely of Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Jerry Fields, Tommy Fields and Buz Fields and two grandchildren, Bryan Burris and Ethan James Eagley. Graveside services with military rites were held at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 14, 2011 at the Keokuk National Cemetery in Keokuk, IA with Reverend Geoff Mitchell officiating. Memorials may be made to the family.
