George W. Chaknine, 55, of Keokuk, IA, died Thursday, April 6, 2006 at the Keokuk Area Hospital. He was born on January 16, 1951 in Keokuk, IA, the son of Raymond and Jane Howard Chaknine. On September 27, 1973, George was united in marriage to Linda Fox in Keokuk, IA. She survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Angela Hogge and her husband Chris, four grandchildren, Caleb, Abby, Samantha & Ryder Hogge, four brothers, Raymond Chaknine, Jr., of Keokuk, IA, Leroy Chaknine and his wife Patty of Keokuk, IA, Frank Chaknine of Louisville, KY, and Floyd Howard and his wife Nancy of Kansas City, MO, four sisters, Edith Crowell of Carthage, IL, Helen Chaknine and Mary Chaknine both of Keokuk, IA, and Margaret Woodruff and her husband Bud of St. Louis, MO, and numerous nieces and nephews. George had been employed at Barnes Body Shop in Keokuk, IA for the past 16 years. He was a Chevy Camaro enthusiast and enjoyed driving them and working on them. In his spare time he enjoyed going fishing. He also liked animals and always had dogs as pets. George's family was very important to him and his grandchildren were his pride and joy. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Monday, April 10 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA. Burial was in the Hickory Grove Cemetery in rural Keokuk. Memorials may be made to the family.
