George Patrick "Pat" Benner, 81 of Keokuk died Monday, November 7, 2016 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, IA.
He was born August 17, 1935 in Keokuk the son of George N. and Eleanor Kennedy Benner. On October 6, 1957 he was united in marriage to Janet Stringfellow at the First Christian Church in Keokuk. She survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, Susan Christine Clancy and her husband Blaine of Keokuk and one son, Douglas Patrick Benner and his wife Cindy of Donnellson, IA, four grandchildren, William "Bill Hieatt and his wife Lesley, Daniel Benner and his wife Erin Benner, Julia Benner and Makayla Clancy, four great-grandchildren, Samantha Hieatt, Hayley Hieatt and Jack Benner and Winifred Benner, one brother, Stephen Benner and his wife Dolores, one sister-in-law, Clarissa Benner, one brother -in-law, Jerry Stringfellow and his wife Marilyn of Lafayette, IN and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, John Benner, one niece, Melissa Benner and several aunts and uncles.
Pat attended one room schools, Ashland and Fairview schools before attending Montrose High School and graduated with the Class of 1952. He then furthered his education through LaSalle Extension University of Chicago and earned his Associates Degree in Drafting.
He was a member of the Episcopal Church and the Joppa Masonic Lodge, both in Montrose, IA.
Pat farmed and raised livestock and crops for seventy-four years.
He enjoyed Nascar and was an avid Kyle Busch fan. He loved taking motorcycle trips, playing cards and socializing with his friends. Pat's favorite television show was the Fox News Channel.
There will be no services.
